At the regular briefing on policies of the State Council held a few days ago, Li Xingqian, director of the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce, said that as of now, there are more than 2,000 overseas warehouses in my country, with a total area of more than 16 million square meters.

The "14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China and the Outline of Vision 2035" proposes to encourage the construction of overseas warehouses and ensure the smooth operation of the foreign trade industry chain and supply chain. The "Opinions on Accelerating the Development of New Formats and New Models of Foreign Trade" issued by the General Office of the State Council also proposed to cultivate a group of outstanding overseas warehouse enterprises and improve the global network of overseas warehouses. Overseas warehouses are an important overseas node for cross-border e-commerce, a new type of foreign trade infrastructure, and an important platform to drive the high-quality development of foreign trade.

Lan Qingxin, a professor at the National Institute of Openness at the University of International Business and Economics, said in an interview with a reporter from China Trade News that with the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce, its requirements for a stable logistics system have gradually increased, in order to enhance international market competition It requires cross-border e-commerce companies to have the ability to provide localized services; overseas warehouses can reduce the interval and geographical distance between buyers and sellers, improve the efficiency of entry and exit of goods, distribution efficiency, reduce logistics and transportation costs, shorten commodity distribution time, and improve inventory turnover. Speed, shorten the service cycle of merchants, broaden the space for commodity pricing, facilitate after-sales service, and improve the shopping experience of consumers; at the same time, overseas warehouses can promote the development of cross-border e-commerce, help them enhance brand awareness and competitiveness, and further develop international markets.

Liu Xiangdong, deputy director of the Economic Research Department of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, believes that the construction of overseas warehouses is an important measure to ensure the stability and smoothness of the supply chain and to achieve an effective adaptation of supply and demand. At present, many Chinese companies are actively going overseas to deploy overseas warehouses with the help of cross-border e-commerce channels, which will help stabilize exports and foreign trade, ensure smooth supply chains, and boost overseas market layout.
